The IOU Project offers you a safe and secure shopping environment. We use an encryption technology called SSL (secure socket layer) which scrambles your personal information into indecipherable bits. This very same technology is in use when we transfer your data between the various services that IOU uses to provide its web experience. When transferring data for credit card processing, we do so over a secure connection established between ourselves and our credit card processing service, further ensuring the safety of your information.

Credit card processing for The IOU Project is handled by Spain´s Banco Santander (NYSE:STD). The IOU Project has built proprietary tools and technology that leverage existing best-in-class services for data management, information processing and data hosting. IOU´s data management uses tools and technology provided by Salesforce.com. Salesforce is the world´s leader in cloud computing and has extensive data protection measures in place. Salesforce is a certified licensee of the TRUSTe Web Privacy Seal (http://www.truste.com/) the TRUSTe EU Safe Harbor Seal and abides by the EU Safe Harbor Framework (http://www.export.gov)

THE IOU Project´s web applications are hosted by Amazon, the world´s largest online retailer. IOU utilizes the infrastructure and services provided through Amazon´s Elastic Computing Cloud (Amazon EC2). Amazon EC2 provides extensive physical and virtual data security mechanisms. How we use and share your data with search engines, Facebook and other third parties

The IOU Project allows search engines such as Google, Bing and others to extensively index its site and present search results on their search engines. If you chose to create a profile on The IOU Project´s site, that profile may be indexed by search engines and may appear in search results. Such search results may publish photographs or data that you may have provided to The IOU Project. The IOU Project cannot control how and when such data may appear on search engines.

The IOU Project does not allow search engines access to any data related to your transactions.

The IOU Project has provided several points of integration with Facebook through Facebook´s open and published API´s (Application Programming Interface). You can access Information shared on Facebook via The IOU Project, change and modify it in accordance with your personal sharing settings on Facebook.

The IOU Project is committed to protecting your information. We will never sell, transfer or share your information with any third party other than as explained above.

Managing your data on IOU

Part of the experience offered by The IOU Project allows you to create an online profile that may include sharing with other users photographs of yourself as well as items that you may have purchased. Adding or removing information to this profile is intuitive and easy.
